I'm guessing that the WSH installer should be setting this key, but isn't. It is perfectly stable though. I ran a trace and see a lot of X11DRV_DIB_Lock, Coerce, and Unlock. I think massive DIB surface converting is the problem. It's not a ddraw app. So I thought about it and shrunk the window from 1280x1024 to about 300x200. It's much more responsive now. Still uses 100% of cpu though. [Bug 5358] .NET 1.1's dotnetfx.exe fails to install

Looking through a +file,+relay shows nothing that would warrant the error, but it's worth looking into. I was able to run install.exe from the temporary directory it was extracted to though, and I get the same error. From information in the link, the installer is trying to stop the Windows Installer service *if* it's already running, to not conflict with the install.
