Farcry passes these values to CreateVolumetexture. Somehow there should be a check in CreateVolumetexture that returns D3DERR_INVALIDCALL (i'd guess when widht,height and length are zero). I'd like to see in which way the vertex buffers are used by this app. I guess that is is creating a non-sysmem vertex buffer and uploads new vertices every frame. It could be related to the card / driver too, maybe the vbo code does calls which causes performance issues with nvidia drivers. The "weird face" bug was a blue moon rarity for me and hasn't popped up in 0.9.16.
