This is probably a bug in oleaut32. Before the error message box popped up there were only calls to oleaut32, and after some exception were thrown there was something about type-mismatch in the trace. Did you set the install option Run when install is completed. Testing with Wine 0.9.20, AIM still doesn't seem to ever get past the console. It starts up spits out a few error messages, waits a few minutes, then quits. No graphics are ever displayed.
