The best place for this might be kernel space, but couldn't we cache the (case insensitive) file names in a directory somewhere and just compare our current file with that? They still fail exactly as specified in this bug using wine-0.9.18 (GIT fd61c3f24bd6a6b589df6e1bb528cf5b7221dc98). The only thing that has changed is a new error message at the beginning of setup: err:ole:get_unmarshaler_from_stream Failed to read common OBJREF header, 0x00000001 If you've made this application work, please specify the version of Wine you used, which native DLL overrides, which non-standard registry keys, etc. so I can reproduce your results.
