A patch isnt here yet, though it should be a no-brainer to add COMDLG32_SetCommDlgExtendedError(0) in dlls/comdlg32/filedlg.c:GetOpenFileNameA dlls/comdlg32/filedlg.c:GetOpenFileNameW dlls/comdlg32/filedlg.c:GetSaveFileNameA dlls/comdlg32/filedlg.c:GetSaveFileNameW before calling dialog. I was fiddling with them quite a bit to nail down the issue for bug 8122 and I never noticed any performance loss. I did notice that memory usage seemed to rise steadily (starting out around 26% and topping out around 42%), but I don't particularly suspect a memory leak, I think it was simply caching things.
