Fortunately, it get far enough and installs enough that you can still launch Steam and have it patch itself to the newest version. Unfortunately, my tests show the same graphical glitches when compiled under 64-bit Kubuntu vs. the perfect-looking 32-bit Kubuntu compile. I have to believe its a difference in some supporting library, if other 64-bit distros aren't showing this problem (or am I begging the question of what the other 64-bit distros show?). Wine's NTDLL goes to great lengths to do the same thing. Even the Linux kernel FAT32 driver does the same thing, and I suspect so does the NTFS driver.
