This happened with both VLC's GDI video output and DirectX video output (probably DirectDraw as there's a separate listing for Direct3D video output). With VLC's OpenGL video output the colors were fine though. I was just about to report a new bugentry about this, when I noticed this one... So it appears this bug has been arround at least for a year.
