Besides, the descriptions of the problems look different, although the end of the error messages I get in my terminal window (see attachment) does say "unhandled action", somewhat similar to 7397. The problem is that when I start with "wine TaxCut2007.exe" I get the attached error messages. The InstallShield installer does start, but then immediately comes to a stop after extracting the .msi file, saying the wizard was interrupted before TaxCut 2007 could be completely installed. My system was not modified at all. I should say I am a first-time user of wine (version 0.9.9 on Ubuntu Dapper Drake). Thanks for any help on this -- it is getting on to tax time. Steam client installs and works fine after fixing gecko. However, in the Steam client, when I click on CounterStrike Source game (or any steam game in the game tab), I get a little window that says, 'Steam - The latest version of DirectX is required' and it won't let the game start. I get this error in spite of whatever '-dxlevel XX' I put in the command line or start up options. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=615763 see last posts #8,9,10 to confirm others are seeing this also. We're both using .9.54 from the ubuntu repos. He has an integrated intel card and is using the restricted drivers that shipped with Kubuntu. We've tried the fixes listed on the app db. And after a while it starts to complain about pasrseURL : fixme:shell:URL_ParseUrl failed to parse L"NWN2Toolset.resources" and finally crashes on : fixme:variant:VarDecFix semi-stub! fixme:variant:VarDecFix semi-stub! fixme:shell:URL_ParseUrl failed to parse L"" [1]+ Segmentation fault (core dumped) It looks like it cannot find resource files. Could core dump be caused by it ? Any ideas of how to proceed ?
