Anything that can improve the situation should be welcome, whether they are hacks or not. If everything that resembles a hack should disappear from wine we could deleted a large percentage of the codebase - see e.g. the current discussion about the soundsystem on the mailing list. But disallowing 'hacks' is not really the right course If you ask me. People come here looking for progress and solutions for their problem. The real fix is still months (years?) away and you can't expect them to wait for that long. The hack is a temporary solution. Hacks get posted in other bugs every day. Hell, even Wine itself already contains a 'force' hack. force-box is simply the logical extension of that, and works well so far for many people. I don't see why it should be forbidden. Yes - it's no proper fix. The current Wine philospohy is not to adopt such things. I accept that. But for the sake of completeness, keep it in Bugzilla. I know that you, Vitaliy, have far more experience on that matter than anybody else. I'm not doubting your authority on this. However, I disagree regarding patches/hacks. If there is a bug that affects 5 games, and we have no global solution, where other than in that bug report do you suggest keeping the 5 distinct-but-related patches that solve the problem in thos particular games? Assuming that the contents of the patches are of use to a developer who might finally fix the bug, keeping them on 5 separate appdb pages seems counterproductive. I have only encountered this problem in Nox so I am assuming it's a problem with Nox. This error occurs at random during gameplay.
