I have followed instructions from a similar bug when I encountered an error with what I'm guessing is directX support (the instructions were: # In the install folder's 'Support/DirectX' folder, extract d3dx9_29.dll by running 'cabextract Feb2006_d3dx9_29_x86.cab', then copy d3dx9_29.dll to Wine's 'windows/system32' directory (usually ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32) # Place msvcr71.dll in Wine's 'windows/system32' directory Having done this, I now get a lot further in the output in console, but the game still does not load. Expected behaviour: Windbg would load/launch the executable. I saw a mailing list discussion about this problem but I got the impression this wasn't going to be changed anytime soon (because it's "good enough"). Well, it isn't. As wrong as it may be, some programs rely on parsing other programs debug output, and this breaks down in wine. The specific application I'm having trouble with is FF7Music, some hack that uses debug output to replace the music in Final Fantasy VII.
