I then installed Rosetta Stone v3.4.5 and used it for several days without issue. After the repository updated Wine to 1.2-rc1, Rosetta Stone started crashing. The program starts normally, and begins lessons normally; however, the program eventually freezes during lessons and then crashes with Rosetta Stone putting up an error just before exiting. This behavior was consistent. I fixed the problem by removing the WineHQ repository from sources.list, by running sudo aptitude purge wine and by running sudo apt-get install wine to install the standard Ubuntu version of Wine, which is 1.1.42-0ubuntu4. Because I compiled Wine from source, I did not have wine-gecko, so I followed the directions from here: http://wiki.winehq.org/Gecko After placing the .cab file in /usr/local/share/wine/gecko it no longer presented the dialog saying that I do not have Gecko installed. However, installing the game still does not work. The error messages are attached.
