I assume this is prompted by an ERROR_NO_MORE_FILES which causes InternetGetLastResponseInfo() to return the above string. The call that gets the error is InternetReadFile(). This error did not occur under 1.6 on my Mageia system. To be certain, I removed the Mageia RPM, downloaded 1.6, 1.6.1, and 1.7.7 from sourceforge, and built each of them from source. 1.6 does not cause the error, 1.6.1 does, and 1.7.7 does not. X eats 40% CPU while PS:T is loading - quite consistent number, and so is 6 minutes loading time. It happens when the game is starting and also when I press Alt-F4 in game and it tries to pop Windows dialogue for quit confirmation. Log attached. Loading times between areas are normal, so are saving/loading games. Wile cutscenes seem unaffected the in game sound effects stutter a lot. I've tested this with both Mafia 2 and Bioshock 2 but I wouldn't be surprised if more games using OpenAL are affected. Sadly I have no way of testing if this is an ALSA-only problem or if the same goes for OSS.
