I previously had no problems, but I had to reinstall the OS because of HDD failures and now I can not open the 'challenges' I have tried wine version 1.7.47 and it gives the same error, At this moment I am downloading the latest release of wine, 1.9.23 and version 1.9.17 which is the one recommended here. Alt-tabbing back and forth doesn't resolve the problem, but if I switch to another workspace in XFCE and switch back to the game, then the screen is displayed correctly. Actually, I have this problem with some other games as well: Planescape:Torment shows the same behaviour when I try to save the game, the screen is not refreshing in the save game dialogue. Atlantis III also has a similar problem: after playing the intro video, the screen remains frozen (until I switch workspaces back and forth).
