I downloaded the demo from the website (http://www.dynamic-html-editor.com/en/download.asp) which actually has a warning on the download page telling Mac and Linux users that they need to use Virtual PC, VMware, or "another Windows emulator" to run the program. The demo installs fine. When I tried to run the program, I got an initial screen telling me this was just a demo, and when I clicked okay, the program crashed. Not sure if this is a Wine bug or a bug in the game engine itself. It doesn't matter if ARB or GLSL shader backend (default), CSMT or non-CSMT (default) is used. Plain Wine and Wine-Staging (for CSMT). The leak is around 50-70 MB per game so it takes 20-30 games until it becomes apparent. When that happens you get strange effects due to failing GL calls. Although this workaround solves the actual client download/updater problem, it seems no one bothered to report this here for some years? I could reproduce crashes with all 'World of WarXXX' clients using the torrent download mode. The crash is caught before any registered JIT debugger ('AeDebug') as the client installs a top level exception filter. Upon failure it simply displays a message box with the option to restart the download client. Debugging/relay tracing a problem which seems to occur at random times in a multi-Gigabyte download, also requiring high download speeds is not really funny :| Anyway, it's now documented here for reference. It would be interesting to know if this torrent download problem occurs on Windows too, albeit much less frequent.
