No issue with DXVK. (only to show what is expected with OGL/DAMAVAND) I did 3 videos to show you the differences between the three cases. It seems like there were some remaining issues with your patchset and progress on it stalled last year? Do you think the patches are an improvement over the patches in wine-staging? I'm using Proton 6.3 (and the patchset in -staging seems to be the same as in 6.3) and the behavior you list as "4)" is mildly annoying, because my favorite Windows application (Zusi 3) spams "SetForegroundWindow" calls while loading scenarios, which can take a long time. It's also impossible to resize the window during that time. So if I forget to resize the window to a small size before loading a level, it's impossible to use other applications for some time, while on Windows these SetForegroundWindow calls are ignored after switching to a different window. Is there some issue with the 2020 patchset that would prevent it from being included in wine-staging? If it fixes some of the issues of the older (currently staged) patchset and there's a chance to update that old patchset in -staging with the 2020 patches, I'd like to test (and possibly rebase) the new patches, hoping to have them "staged" eventually if it fixes that mildly annoying behavior "4)". -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. The crash is a null pointer exception (see attached kotorcrash.txt). Nothing special appears in the terminal, the crash was captured using winedbg. The issue can be easily replicated by saving in front of a loading door and going back and forth a few times. It usually happens after 5-10 loads, so during normal gameplay the game crashes every 30 minutes or so, depending on the area. My reverse engineering skills are minimal, but I know how to use IDA a bit, so I took a peek at the offending code with it (see attached isassembled.png). The instruction can be reached from 2 paths, one of which contains a malloc that I think is failing and returning 0. Why it fails I cannot tell. I tried placing a breakpoint but it gets called too often to be able to play the game (I need some way to break only if it returns 0, but I don't know how to do it). I think malloc is part of winelib, so I chose that as the component for this bug report, if it's wrong please move it to the correct section. I am willing to help you debug the issue further if you can tell me exactly what do to. I can also provide game files or saved games to replicate the issue if you contact me via email. Software: * Manjaro Linux 18.1.5 KDE x86-64 (also tested on Ubuntu 19.10) * KOTOR version 1.0.3 from GOG (also tested with Steam and disc versions) * Wine version 5.0-rc6 built from source (also tested with 4.0.3 stable, 5.0-rc2 and 5.0-rc2 staging from package manager) Hardware 1: * AMD Athlon 300G * 8GB DDR4 * AMD RX Vega 3 graphics (using open source amdgpu driver) Hardware 2: * Intel Core i9 9900k * 64GGB DDR4 * nVidia GTX 1080 (using both the open source nouveau driver and the proprietary one) I've also tried playing in software rendering using Mesa Gallium on LLVMPipe, the issue was still present. I launch a Steam game which use RGS with Proton Experimental and i have the same issue. With plain wine + Proton on Steam, RGS hangs before to show the Launcher (like on the screenshot). With wined3d opengl renderer, i have this error : 0350:err:d3d:wined3d_context_gl_set_pixel_format wglSetPixelFormatWINE failed to set pixel format 5 on device context 0x20052. 0350:fixme:d3d:swapchain_blit_gdi Using GDI present. With vulkan renderer, i have this error : 4135.942:028c:0290:err:vulkan:X11DRV_vkCreateWin32SurfaceKHR Failed to allocate client window for hwnd=0x100c0 I precise that for my wine version, i applied Remi's patch from https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45277 I suspect a RGS update since the GTA Trilogy Remastered release, it worked without problem. And i don't think it's a problem with my system and/or wine, all my applications (EA Origin/Galaxy) and games still work.
