Nothing on either side of this trace seemed out of the ordinary. It does, however, still work in Wine up until version 8.3. On the current Wine version, the games launcher starts and updates the game. Afterwards the games .exe starts and you can see it in the process list. However, the game window does not show up. The game developers have introduced a niche Unity store anti-cheat solution with version 450, so this might be an issue. However, since the game still runs in Wine 8.3, there seems to be a way to also have it run on current versions. It is possible to download and install the game without having a game account. The error occurs right after the games .exe starts up, before the login window appears. I receive a notice that there's an error and Battle.net has to shut down. I close it, and the error shows up again. This continues in a cycle until I use "wineserver -k" to exit. The backtrace saved from this has been attached. I am able to use the Settings button on the login screen for the Battle.net app, as well as typing in a username/password, but I cannot go any farther than that because there is no submit button and it doesn't seem to want to load. Be aware that I had previously been loading Starcraft II directly using the SC2Switcher.exe executable, but because a new version needs to be downloaded, I'm needing to get into the Battle.net app. Not sure if not using the app is a side effect. Both during normal usage, but more critically, when it's VRAM budget is low or over-committed. The VS2022 (and I think also VS2019) C++ standard library in C++20 mode uses this DLL to implement the timezone database as specified by the C++ standard. The standard library loads this DLL dynamically with LoadLibraryExW (see <https://github.com/microsoft/STL/blob/ef62d3fa0b8e4e2406b9bb74e916e1ca8a1df…>) and throws a std::system_error (see <https://github.com/microsoft/STL/blob/ef62d3fa0b8e4e2406b9bb74e916e1ca8a1df…> and <https://github.com/microsoft/STL/blob/ef62d3fa0b8e4e2406b9bb74e916e1ca8a1df…>) when it cannot load it. In order to provide compatibility with modern Windows versions, IMHO Wine should thus ship a compatible icu.dll. A similar issue also exists for older Windows versions even on the Microsoft side (see <https://github.com/microsoft/STL/issues/1911>). This issue arose since I recently modernized timezone handling in OpenMPT by using C++20 chrono. For now, I have worked around the problem in OpenMPT. This time, the test harness stacktrace blew up on unwind resulting in getting a wine exception handler coming up at top level, so it may have corrupted memory too. Looks like it's a duplicate of https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12401 but isn't. Installing dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe downloaded from the MS website, the installer will open and verify the integrity of files. The next stage will attempt to install the .NET Framework 4.0 Client Profile. Towards the end of this install the installer will fail with HRESULT 0x80070643, leaving little or no information in the %TEMP% folder as to the cause. The installer will only run if wine is set to WinXP. Process used to reproduce: WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-net40 sh winetricks gecko WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-net40 sh winetricks windowscodecs ie7 msxml3 WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-net40 wineboot WINEDEBUG=+relay WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-net40 wine Downloads/net40/dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe &> net-out I also attempted to install the .NET Framework 4.0 Client Profile prior to installing the Full package. This provides the same error, the only difference to the above process used was the filename of the Client Profile installer dotNetFx40_Client_x86_x64.exe. Each time I attempted to install I used a clean WINEPREFIX, deleting the prior one before attempting again.
