The page fault is caused by CreateFileW as it processes the name of the file from the parameter list. The name pointer is 0x00007f8a, which is an address in an unmapped page. This value is also an index into Windows resources, selecting the hourglass icon. What has happened is that the application was attempting to load the hourglass icon and passed in BOTH the Windows resource index and a flag indicating LOADFROMFILE. Wine attempted to load-from-file and looked for the file name through the "name" parameter (0x00007f8a) generating the page fault. Native Windows appears to give the value of the "name" pointer precedence and determines that the "name" parameter is actually a resource number; hence it does not page fault and runs Okad2 normally. Wine *DOES* check the "name" parameter to see if it is a resource index, but several subroutine calls later it forgets this fact and branches based on the LOADFROMFILE bit. The backtrace has been annotated to provide both a description and source lines involved in the decision. It kind of works, can attach to process, create breakpoints, stops at breakpoints, shows source. But one thing I noticed is when hitting a breakpoint and when entering the first character of the next command, the cursor jumps a few lines upwards. By that the output of the next command gets mixed into the previous output. This happens in both, plain kde-plasma konsole and wineconsole. >From my debugging attempts it looks like in update_read_output the edit_line's home_y got not updated by lldb.exe printing some lines. Attached file contains my steps to reproduce it with a debian trixie and with winehq packages. At the end there is a workaround I found working well for my purposes. With the native nvidia d3d9 driver, you barely can spot a difference in the Mass Effect comm room between looking at the emptiest wall in human history, or the closed door behind that gives access to the rest of the ship. Not sure about the crash itself - it's more likely to be graphics related that winegstreamer, but that's just a guess. Also tested with Bejeweled 3. Games run fine when the EGL backend is disabled via UseEGL=0 in the registry, but OpenGL initialization completely fails when enabled (the default since 10.17). Curiously, the error happens to be different every time; sometimes context creation fails completely and the entire process hangs until wineserver -k, sometimes the X11 error is shown and the application exits immediately, sometimes getting pixel formats fails but the process can resume. I hacked on the code a bit to get some more information, and I get an NT_ACCESS_VIOLATION from the first UNIX_CALL `get_pixel_format` on the PE side. Attached are logs with WINEDEBUG=trace+opengl. I want dosdevices to be readonly because wine fills it with tons of random cruft I don't want there (way more serial ports than I actually have, a bevy of ephemeral removable drives and/or network mounts) every time it starts up.
