Actually now the problem is cropping up ocasionally on my desktop also.

Some more information: Laptop is a acer ferarri 4005, running 64bit ubuntu
7.10, wine 0.9.50 (I updated) with an ati x700 mobility card

Desktop is also running 64bit ubuntu 7.10, wine 0.9.50 with an ati x800 pro
using the fglrx proprietary ati binaries.
