The fix is simple, just create the ~/.wine/drive_c/users/xxxx/Recent directory. With this directory missing, the *.lnk files are created in the same directory as the MSOffice file. With the directory present, the *.lnk files are created in the correct history location. I am unsure why the ~/.wine/drive_c/users/xxxx/Recent directory was missing. The bug should probably be considered for reopening.
