http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29063 Bug #: 29063 Summary: Jack the Ripper hangs with a black screen on launch (without native msvcrt.dll) Product: Wine Version: 1.3.21 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Keywords: regression Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: msvcrt AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: gyebro69(a)gmail.com CC: piotr.caban(a)gmail.com Classification: Unclassified Regression SHA1: ae15a4b6bcc6163255ffb01e820ba5b4532febf9 Created attachment 37448 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=37448 plain terminal output This is a point-n-click adventure game, released in 2004 by The Adventure Company. After starting the game only a black screen is shown, and the screen stays that way: the game becomes unresponsive shortly after started. I can't reproduce the problem in the demo version. The last good version is Wine 1.3.20, and the problem is still present as of wine-1.3.32-122-g2e5f73e. The result of the regression test: ae15a4b6bcc6163255ffb01e820ba5b4532febf9 is the first bad commit commit ae15a4b6bcc6163255ffb01e820ba5b4532febf9 Author: Piotr Caban <piotr(a)codeweavers.com> Date: Fri May 20 13:22:29 2011 +0200 msvcrt: Make FILE->_flag reading functions thread safe. :040000 040000 0348b825f3a114979fd0745b50b9ba6a95318a57 7bd450a99268173aa845991434ab9bc2f75285da M dlls The reverted patch fixed the problem. Native msvcrt also acts as a workaround (winetricks vcrun6). Please let me know what debug channels should be used (would a +tid,+msvcrt,+file debug log be okay)?
