I sent a patch to fix the deadlock to wine-patches today: http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-patches/2010-March/085649.html It's surprising that the regression did not cause ealier bug reports, as any AVIVIDEO closed while playing (not stopped) would deadlock. Probably other apps send the stop command first.
Sorry this error message comes up since the regression. I didn't look at that yet.
