On windows it is pretty much required since WindowsXP to provide a value for:

  reg_path="SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Cryptography";    
  rvalue="MachineGuid";

The attached code compile and runs nicely from a windows 7 32bits, but fails
when run from wine 1.6.2 (debian stable: jessie).
