I have tested in 0.9.44

"", NULL and "." all have normal behaviour

but ".\" works fine on winapi yet fails on WINE . In the previous version I
tried, 0.9.33 this was working correctly.

I am not sure if I should report it as another bug and change the status of
this bug to fixed
