http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21567 --- Comment #16 from Terrance <currter(a)gmail.com> 2010-02-03 23:09:32 --- I am thinking the problem is with SlingPlayer. I just read that new versions of SlingPlayer may not be compatible with Wine, whereas older versions of SlingPlayer ran fine in Wine. The thing is other programs I have downloaded in Wine such as the DS Clock and Internet Explorer and Notepad all run fine in the Wine window. All of these lead me to believe the problem is with SlingPlayer. I am in search of alternatives that run on both Windows and Linux such as SageTV. Thank you. Terrance (In reply to comment #11)

If you are working on this bug, if it is a bug, I will indicate that I was running Ubuntu Linux 9.10 and there was some Microsoft +Net 2.0 that Slingbox installed or attempted to install. For some reason +Net failed, but SlingPlayer continued to install itself.
You should install .NET before running application installer. Use 'winetricks dotnet20' to do it properly (http://www.kegel.com/wine/winetricks).
