Honestly, I don't know. Never really deal with the Linux kernel.

What do the following output?
> zcat /proc/config.gz | grep MODIFY_LDT
> zcat /proc/config.gz | grep CONFIG_X86_16BIT

I also might test with VirtualBox later...
