H. Verbeet: Which patch do you mean? I tried this one:

demo howto, but that just causes another error: "Video card or driver doesn't
support UBYTE4N vertex data." I looked at the 3DMark06 AppDB entry and it is
just rated as garbage, there is no mention of a patch.
