I tested with application versions 0.8.6 and 0.8.37 (the latest one to date). Calibre.exe starts fine after installing native msvc*90 dlls, but the conversion process hangs after starting. The series of 4 patches written by Adam Martinson in bug #17195 fixed the problem in Calibre, and the conversion process finished successfully.
