Adding a patch which would disable XRender for 16-bit is not an option. For
most other apps the 16-bit patch gives a nice speedup. I'm not sure but I guess
the reason it worked before is that we used no (?) access traps because the
depths were different but I'm not sure (that's the only thing I can think of
why it would have worked).
