Is it happening for you consistently? What's the wechat version you used?
Yes. WeChat says it's 2.7.1.88. I tried from scratch and find that, in order for this issue to appear, you need to maximize the chat window, quit wechat, and then start it again. I'm using Awesome WM version 3.5.9.
A video clip demonstrating the problem would be very helpful.
