I have to confirm that. I use new steam ui with win7 mode. But i had lag spike after engi update, to fix that i just switched hl2.exe to win98 mode. I lost russian chars in game, but game never lag. I expire random fps drop for 2 seconds every 10 minutes of gameplay.
