I re-installed Winamp (Since I recently re-installed Ubuntu) and first tried the "Lite" package which is an installation option. The lite package was fine. No sky-rocketing CPU cycles. Then I re-installed again with the Full option. As soon as the program started, my CPU usage shot up but not to 100% like before. It was roughly 85 - 90% high.
