Off hand it acts like an counter overflow. I am not subscribed to any of the bug that have the problem but is it only the newsgroup getting the long messages or do the individual subscribed to the bug get the extra info ?
Individuals do as well. I'm subscribed to bug 421 (dib engine), and I can no longer read the messages, since gmail trims them off after a certain limit (I could click okay to expand, but I'm lazy...besides, only the latest comment/change should be sent). I actually was just getting ready to file a bug for this.
