I have the same results under 2 versions of ubuntu (10.04 and 10.10) with different kernel, x server and nvidia driver versions. Unity is free, you can download it here : http://unity3d.com/unity/download/, if you don't believe me, just try it.
Likely a driver bug. Feel free to debug it, but in any case it's not wine.
