Judging by video, wine-staging successfully switches the game into 8-bit color
mode since it writes fixme:x11drv:X11DRV_desktop_SetCurrentMode in log

wine-devel crashes at the moment it has to change color mode and doesn't log
this message.

Looks like the game can be launched through wine-devel using "wine Sims.exe
-skip_intro -skip_verify"
