I downgraded to 1.1.42 from the .deb made by Ubuntu. TagScanner works! If I apt-get purge and remove ~/.wine and install 1.1.43 or newer, TagScanner no more runs. So if the debs in Ubuntu repository and Ubuntu-Wine PPA are compiled the same way, I'd say something changed between .42 and .43.
