I'll work on this issue. The default font selection using FontConfig seems not
to handle vertical case properly.

There are various reasons why vertical glyph is not rendered correctly (missing
lyphs, etc.). But, for this case, my assumption is that the default font face
is used instead since there is no MS Gothic fonts in OP's environment.
