The crash goes away if I disable GL_ARB_draw_elements_base_vertex. The "Failed to allocate a buffer" error message goes away if I disable VBOs but keep GL_ARB_draw_elements_base_vertex. Without VBOs the crash still occurs, but with a different backtrace.
