It flips a flag in the binary that lets it use the full 4gb address space available. I can even turn on sound now. Still have to run with WINEDEBUG="warn+heap" though. http://www.ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php It would be neat if this was all it took to solve the crash you're seeing.
