I'm not sure if I should file a new bug, but I'm seeing the black textures and missing HUD even with the patch applied and -dxlevel 80 or -dxlevel 81. Any info you want I'll be able to give. I'm using latest nVidia too, but it's quite an old card (GeForce 6200).
