I was still having the issue even after compiling with the suggested 21609
patch with Ubuntu 10.04. So instead, I followed the "Newer versions of Wine
(Not Recommended)" instructions at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wine to
get the latest Wine release (1.2-RC6) and now Oblivion runs without issue.
