Hi,
To get this to work RICHED20.dll needs to be set to native.
In wineconfig select the file PPCNVCOM.EXE in the Office12 folder and in the Libraries tab add RICHED20.dll and set it to (native, builtin)
This allows you to open files by double clicking on them (in Nautilus), but not within Powerpoint itself.

Actually the above was for wine-1.1.37.
Just tried 1.1.44 and this only works from the terminal not by double clicking in the file browser
Git Bisect shows this killed it! 1e3aba6e7c3207ac5e9d73ddddbde25f5d3d2994 is the first bad commit commit 1e3aba6e7c3207ac5e9d73ddddbde25f5d3d2994 Author: Gerald Pfeifer <gerald(a)pfeifer.com> Date: Sat Apr 24 14:11:58 2010 +0200 ole32: Remove variable res which is not really used from CompositeMonikerImpl_Reduce.
