Mine connected after some time with the cnodes list from here under Wine 1.1.2: (extracted to the Data subfolder) http://sourceforge.net/projects/agcnodes
It was in Windows 98 mode...
Back in Windows 2000 mode, I did not connect in several hours.
I am using Windows XP mode, and since I updated to wine 1.1.2, Ares (vanilla version, 2.0.9) can connect to its network almost instantaneously.
