Do not have this bug, when checkbox "Emulate a virtual desktop" is checked and checkbox "Automatically capture the mouse in full-screen windows" is not checked.
If you do that, the mouse pointer will escape from the game screen and will be captured by AWN or Compiz. And if you have dual monitors you will see the mouse leaving the game screen. I have the same problem with "Mirror's Edge", Steam version.
