My opinion is that zero-order hold must die, unconditionally. If a fallback is
needed, let's use linear interpolation - that's what Windows XP does at the
worst quality setting, that's what ALSA does if you have no alsa-plugins
installed, and it is better than zero-order hold. On Sunday, I will make a
patch.
