[Bug 12251] Gamma on screen is brighter after application exits

Still present in 1.1.1 - I have however observed (I have an nVidia card) that
loading the nvidia-settings program up immediately corrects the excess gamma;
nothing else short of an X restart seems to do this. I have yet to locate this
bug in any other games or demos.
