In the screenshot you can see how it looks for me. Neither right- nor left-click do anything on it. If I disable the autohide of the panel, or the panel is just visible when steam gets started, the tray-icon works as expected, but still looks wrong (see next attachment). I am a programmer myself, just don't know how wine works.
