Did you ever locate them? the .torrent files for patching are found in $HOME/.wine/drive_c/users/your_user/My Games/FINAL FANTASY XIV/downloads/ffxiv/ For me, $HOME/.wine/drive_c/your_user links to ~/ for me. 2d2a390f/metainfo has the .torrent for the latest boot client. 48eca647/metainfo has the 15 or so (currently) torrents for updating the client. I may not be able to help with the winhttp trace, but that might help.
