The dlls/ws2_32/tests/sock.c file doesn't participate in gameplay in any way.
Commenting a test out should have absolutely no effect. Only the patch to
dlls/ws2_32/socket.c changes something.

Start with a clean installation and if it still happens, please attach a
+winsock trace.
