This commit changes the reported OS install date which may appear to the launcher/game as if Windows was reinstalled. Can you try reinstalling EA and the game?

That fixed it, thank you! Apparently the date update was a breaking change for an existing EA client install for some reason. Tested on wine 9.17 for proper install of the EA client (I let it auto-create the prefix to defaults). The game downloaded, installed, and launches now with no issues.
