Wine provides its own, so the only way you would get dll not found is if you forced d3dx9_43 to native but the native dll wasn't present. Austin, you're absolutely right! Thanks for noticing. I had my WINEPREFIX bungled up and so that was causing the error. So after some more testing, it doesn't seem to matter whether the native override for d3dx9_43.dll is there or not, but the real d3dx9_43.dll does have to be in the system32 directory. I've changed the title of this bug to be more descriptive.
